Our Staff

Our Optometrists are experts at what they do and they are just waiting to share their

wealth of knowledge with you.


For any eye problem great or small just make an appointment and they will do their

utmost to find you the most suitable solution available to you.


We also have trained Optical Dispensers on hand if you are having trouble with your

glasses, whether they need a service or just a screw tightened.

Pop in anytime during business hours and our staff will happily help in any way they can.



Rachel Chipere Optometrist


Rachel Chipere joined Leongatha Optometrists in 2017.

Rachel graduated with a double degree of Bachelor of Medical Science

(Vision Science) and Masters in Optometry at Flinders University, South Australia.


Rachel has accumulated a wealth of experience in general Optometry and regularly co-manages complex ocular disease cases with local Ophthalmology as well as Children's vision assessments.


Rachel completed the Certificate in Advanced Contact Lenses through the Australian College of Optometry (ACO-CACL).

She is experienced in fitting complicated contact lenses including Keratoconic patients, post corneal graft contact lens fittings and more. 


Rachel consults at other practices in Regional Victoria, from time to time, who are in need of her complicated contact lens fitting skills.


Michael Tan Optometrist


Michael has spent the last two years in regional Victoria gaining

extensive experience managing various ocular diseases and developing relationships

with our local health care providers. Michael's interests include custom contact lenses,

ocular disease management and providing his patients the best possible visual outcome.


We are very pleased to have Michael join our team this year.

Leah Meulendijks Optometrist


Leah is an Optometrist and she is the owner of Leongatha Optometrists as of 2016. 

Leah has a wealth of knowledge from her time working in Victoria.


She has vast experience co-managing with the local Opthalmologists, many ocular

diseases such as Glaucoma, Macular, Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy to name a few.


Leah also spent two and a half years being mentored by a Behavioral Optometrist in Bendigo

and while she hasn't taken on the role of Behavioral Optometry, she has extensive knowledge

in the field and can recommend the best referrals if necessary to any parents with children

having trouble at school.



Dot Optical Assistant


Dot has been the smiling face of Leongatha Optometrists for over 27 years.


Dot covers all front of house work, reception, adjustments and repairs, frame selection

and advice of frames and lenses that are the best option for you. Her frame selection skills

and lens knowledge allows her to offer the best advice when choosing your next spectacles.

Dot not only loves her job but especially loves the people she gets to meet everyday.


Dot is born and bred in Korumburra and now lives locally here in Leongatha. 


Ashley Optical Assistant


Ashley is our Optical Assistant and is the newest addition to the team at Leongatha Optometrists.

Helping our patients choose the right frame to suit their prescription and individual style.

Ashley assists with all front of office duties, reception, adjustments, repairs, frame selection and supports our Optometrists where needed.


Her attention to detail and interpersonal skills make Ashley a delightful addition to our team.


Ashley also looks after Graphics & social media for us here at Leongatha Optometrists and is with us at least two days a week.
